  • These maps are for older versions of Minecraft, and may become corrupted if they are loaded in other versions of the game, especially if the version is older than the world.

  • Each file is a .zip which includes only the main world, not the nether or the end.

  • In-game features which depend on plugins & add-ons will not work like they do on the server. This means some items or blocks (e.g. decoration 'head' blocks from the HeadDataBase) will be replaced with the default textures or become nonfunctional.

  • By downloading, you agree not to claim these worlds in their unmodified state as your own. You may modify and redistribute it as you like!

  • These are LARGE files! Make sure you have drive space, network bandwidth, and time before downloading. Not recommended on mobile.

Installing downloaded worlds

Keep in mind that you cannot open Bedrock worlds in Java and vice versa; you will need a converter to do that. Dormcraft is hosted on Minecraft: Java Edition.

  1. Extract the compressed file (.ZIP archive). You may need a program like or to do this.

  2. Make sure you have a single folder containing the world assets: Sometimes, extracting from a .ZIP creates nested folders.

  3. Open the directory for your Minecraft folder. On Java Edition, the name of the folder is .minecraft. Below is a table showing the default directory for .minecraft.

OS
Location

Windows

%APPDATA%\.minecraft

MacOS

~/Library/Application Support/minecraft

Linux

~/.minecraft

  1. Open the "saves" folder, and add the entire world folder that you downloaded.

  2. Make sure that your game version matches the latest native version of the world before you launch Minecraft to explore! The world will appear in your single player menu.
