Experience gained in this skill varies based upon the tier of ingredient added. This means that brewing potions with more ingredients provides more experience, but the most efficient method will be the one that produces bulk. There are two passive special abilities that can be unlocked through this skill:
Brewing Speed (Passive ability) Scales with Level
Decreases the time it takes to brew a potion. Scales with level up to 4x brewing speed at maximum level 100.
Catalysis (Passive ability) Level 1
Decreases the time it takes to brew a potion. Scales with level up to 4x brewing speed at maximum level 100.
Concoctions Rank (Passive ability)
This represents your level of brewing mastery. Concoctions allows brewing of more potions with custom ingredients. Which special ingredients are unlocked is determined by your rank, of which there are eight in total. These potions can be extended or converted into splash potions in the same manner as vanilla ones.
Players will not be able to place concoction ingredients in a brewing stand until they have reached the alchemy level required. Please note that the brewing stand GUI can sometimes have issues displaying the brewing animations when brewing concoctions, so your potions may just need a minute to brew.
At concoctions rank 1 Level 1, you can brew the basic potions:
All vanilla potions, using Blaze Powder, Fermented Spider Eye, Ghast Tear, Redstone, Glowstone Dust, Sugar, Glistering Melon, Golden Carrot, Magma Cream, Nether Wart, Spider Eye, Suplhur, Water Lily, and Pufferfish.
At concoctions rank 2 Level 10
Potion of Haste (3:00) using carrots, which provides a temporary 10% buff to mining speed.
Potion of Dullness (3:00) using slimeball, which applies Mining Fatigue to players, making them mine 10% slower.
At concoctions rank 3 Level 20
Potion of Absorption (1:30) using nether quartz, which applies additional hearts to your healthbar that disappear upon taking damage or at the end of the 90 second effect duration.
Potion of Leaping (3:00) using rabbit's foot, which applies a jump boost effect.
At concoctions rank 4 Level 35
Potion of Health Boost (1:30) using apple, which applies 2 refillable hearts per level.
Potion of Hunger (0:45) using rotten flesh, which depletes the hunger bar at a faster rate, as though the player had consumed a toxic food.
At concoctions rank 5 Level 50
Potion of Nausea (0:22) using brown mushroom, which makes the user's vision swirl like entering a Nether portal.
Potion of Blindness (0:11) using ink sack, which decreases the player's range of vision to just a few blocks in all directions.
At concoctions rank 6 Level 70
Potion of Saturation using fern, which causes the user's hunger bar to increase and stay saturated without the consumption of food.
Due to a bug within mcMMO, the potion of saturation is wonky at the time of writing: While a saturation potion (and splash saturation potion) can be used to feed the player, they do not correctly provide the feed-over-time effect.
At concoctions rank 7 Level 90
Potion of Decay (0:22) using poisonous potato, which inflicts damage over time similar to the wither skeleton damage effect.
At concoctions rank 8 Level 100
Potion of Resistance (0:22) using golden apple, which applies a 20% damage reduction to incoming attacks.
