🤠Starter guide

Here's what you need to know to get started, in two minutes or less.

Welcome to WWU Dormcraft!

If you have played Minecraft before, you'll likely recognize a lot about our custom version of the game. If this is your first time playing the game, check out these pages to get started:

1️How to connect2️Using chat commands

If you want to learn about the basics in-game, feel free to explore our spawn castle. There's information signs in each building that can give you a rundown. We have tried to keep the classic feel of survival mode alive, while adding things which enhance multiplayer play. Important addons have an information page here on our wiki, so you can read up on their features.

Most notably:

  • New players keep their inventories when dying within the first hour of time spent in game. The server will notify you in chat and via a /mail when the time is up.

  • Land claims allow players to protect their builds (and themselves from PvP), and require no commands to create.

  • mcMMO adds skills to be trained by playing the game normally. Breaking blocks, cooking things, brewing potions, fighting, and more now provide experience points, allowing players to unlock special abilities and extra loot over time.

  • Trade chests allow players to make shops to sell their wares automatically. Our server uses exclusively vanilla items in this system- no tokens, keys, gems, or clutter here!

  • Player warps, created by veteran players, can be teleported to by anyone! Use the /pw command to view available warps in a GUI.

  • You can set a home point with /sethome and teleport back there later with /home, so you never lose your base!

Just like in singleplayer, you're welcome to build wherever you like, so long as it doesn't infringe on another person's claim or destroy a build that's already in progress. There are community projects going, such as the worldwide railroad and the market at spawn, but many players choose just to build a base on their own.

Our current world has terrain generated in Java versions 1.18 and 1.19, and has a square border which is 20,000 blocks across. If you've just joined, you'll keep your inventory if you die during the first hour of play, which is helpful since our server gamemode is set to hard.

Don't hesitate to reach out to players you see online or in our Discord server, everyone is real friendly! Staff are always happy to answer questions you might have about the game, and you can always use the /help command if you need a refresher. But if you want all the details, you're in the right place. Make sure to peek at our other wiki articles for more info; the gamerules page below has lots of neat updates.
